Asking Your Listeners to Write a Review of Your Podcast in iTunes
From Jason - Perhaps helpful to you:
I am now asking all of my guests to review the show and ask their community to review the show they are on in iTunes. One of them asked: “why?” Noting that if you were not already a user, it is not necessarily an easy/attractive experience. Below is my response to him. You may be asked the same question–and this may be useful for you. In Service and in Evolution, Jason |||||||:::::: Hi Dave. Thanks for asking. I think these are important questions. let me handle them in the reverse order you asked them: But, if there were a countering incentive to use the iTunes link, folks might be more inclined to do it. At least that’s my reasoning. . . . There are a couple of reasons to use iTunes from the users’ perspective: 1. You can subscribe to the show you were on, or any of the other Personal Life Media shows, and it will automatically download them for you when there is a new episode. That gives you and your community fresh, value dense content. If you have an iPod, it can automatically update them on that as they sync their iPod, meaning you could never be out of rich content that will improve your life and expand your perspectives. 2. The more people who review the show [any episode] the higher Apple rates it and it can become a featured podcast. 90% of our downloads come through iTunes. What that means to you is that your episode can get a lot more exposure–meaning your wisdom and services get more exposure. I tried it and found that I couldn’t proceed without a mac.com account, which I imagine could be a disincentive for some people (spam prevention, you know….) In my experience, you do not need a mac.com account. Although that will get you in. I do not have one, but I have an Apple ID [my primary email address]. I have that so I can comment on the Apple?Mac support forums. They do require you to give a credit card. This can be a disincentive. Personally, I use iTunes all the time to purchase music and movies and I love it. I have never found spam to be an issue. Not through Apple. You simply tell them you do not want to receive email, and Apple is _highly_ rigorous and respectful of that. Thanks Jason. And just so I know what I’m promoting, how does it help you if folks go through iTunes? How it helps us is that, again, 90% comes through iTunes, so the more user reviews and 5 star ratings we have, the higher Personal Life Media is placed. The higher we are placed, the more exposure people get to our free and valuable content. The more people who are exposed to our valuable content, the better the world we create, which is ultimately what it is about, isn’t it? AND if the iTunes thing seems like too much of a hassle, I understand. AND if you can put it out there, people may already be subscribed and it will be a 3 minute process for them. Thanks again, Dave. Jason
