Frankly I don't know how the issue of opening up a relationship can be done without introducing pain. The issue is that we live in a society that has created an expectation of exclusivity, and when those accepted norms are challenged the very process of challenging the norms is painful. The real crux of the issue for me is whether or not I am willing to accept the unconventional, and to what extent I am willing to accept the unconventional and under what conditions.
