What affect do Fireworks Have on the Environment?
I’m in Santa Cruz tonight and watching the fireworks on the beach and I realize that there will most likely come a time when fireworks will be a memory of the past. (Kind of like dial - up…)
Here’s some info on fireworks for you:
Statistics show that about 0.03% of the toxins on the planet each year come from fireworks. Fireworks create unnatural toxins create smog, acid rain, and a few enviromental damages. The fireworks also create physical distractions in the enviroment expecially oceans because as you probably know, fireworks release plastic and ash onto the ground which usually goes along the way with run-off. This is a problem but it is minor considering the great factor that other problems are to the damages of the enviroment (such as huge factories).

I wondered about this when I was watching the NYC fireworks. It bothered me to see all that debris end up in the water.
Does this mean the .03% of toxins/year come from ALL fireworks or just the 4th of July displays? Because some places (fun parks etc.) have giant fireworks displays each night.
Just curious.
Thanks for the info Meredith!
