Saucy Social Sirens on Community and Guys with Presence
Kyra Reed, co-founder of social media agency in LA called Markyr, stopped in to the DishyMix studio while she was in town for the WITI conference. This is a sizzling, fun interview with a hands-on social media and community expert.
Conversation ranges from Bing to GoogleWave to Hashtags to TweetCrawls. Then we get into social influence marketing strategy and creating a solid, active community site.
Then things get dishy as Suz and Kyra talk about men with presence and why that’s the sexiest attribute a man can have. Don’t you love how the show combines humanity and marketing business advice all in a 30 minute treat?

I liked your recent episode of Dishy Mix but I disagree with the some of the conversation about why someone should and should not build an online community. Since we work (in my day job) with worth companies that do sell macaroni our experience is different than your guest suggested. While Campbells for instance started with a community about recipes because that is a natural starting point they built that into a community more about women taking care of their families. Dove did their famous campaign not about soap but about body image (we were involved in that campaign as well). There are a number of ways to use communities. A lot more than people think based on my 17 years of experience building online communities.
I am by day the Executive Vice President of Engineering and Operations for a company in Silicon Valley (http://LiveWorld.com) that runs online communities for companies like eBay, HBO, Marriott, MSN, AT&T, Sprint, American Express, the NBA, Kraft, Campbells, Kimberly Clark, A&E, QVC, etc.
