Post Once, Appear Everywhere – Social Media Timesaver: MobyPicture #TG2009
MobyPicture is my new favorite social media ap because it is a new breed of tool. It’s an almighty meta tool that works across many social applications, saving time and increasing reach for social devotees.
MobyPicture effortlessly syndicates or distributes any photo, audio or video file across all the social sites I use, with a single upload from my desktop, email from my phone or via the MobyPicture iPhone and Nokia ap. It’s a free application and you sign up once and add your services and then everything is distributed for you, automatically.
In my case, I can snap a photo on my iPhone or Nokia N79 (a sponsor of our #Traveling Geeks event) and it automatically posts it to this DishyMix blog, Nokia’s Ovi.com site, my Flickr account, my Twitter feed and as an image or video to my Facebook profile. Unlike using TwitPic or another Twitter image application, MobyPicture actually shows the image in my Facebook newsfeed, MobyPicture also posts a copy to my Facebook photos area so it’s not lost forever in the river of news.
Instead of just posting to Twitter or a single one of these applications, MobyPicture makes it easy to share with friends across my social networks.

Mathys van Abbe, the founder of MobyPicture has also created something he calls a “BackChannel” for the Traveling Geeks’ junket. Anytime anyone posts anything to Twitter, MobyPicture picks it up and puts it into this live feed page.

This is an excellent way for any event, trip, group project, or social meme to see a real time feed of what’s happening in the Twitterverse, but also to have an evergreen archive of the event and its contributors.
MobyPicture is nominated for Best Mobile Application in the TechCrunch Europa Awards coming Thursday night. I’ll be there. If you are, look up in the sky for the big American blonde and come say, “hi.”
